Obituary

QUEENSBURY – Ernest J. "Bud" Germain, 80, of Bennett Rd., Queensbury, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital with his family by his side.

Born Aug. 9, 1934 in Wevertown, Ernest was the son of the late Cecil and Eleanor (Johnson) Germain.

Ernie began school at the Wevertown one room schoolhouse before attending Johnsburg Central School. At the early age of 14, he was proud to start his first job as a logger; it was a very big accomplishment of his. For many years, Ernest was a dedicated worker for The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 106. He started his family at 18 and worked hard to take care of them, doing so with pride.

On June 17, 1975 he married Sharon Beesaw and together they shared 49 wonderful years together until her passing in Sept. 2014. Together with their family they enjoyed traveling to Maine and Florida.
Back in the 1960's, Ernest used to race stock cars with his friends and family. As the years went by, he spent more time hunting and fishing. His closest friends and family went hunting in Southern Tier, Columbia County, and together they created a private hunting club called the Ridge Runners.

Ernest was a member of the B.P.O.E Lodge No. 81.

Besides his parents and his loving wife, Sharon Germain, Ernest was predeceased by a son, John Germain, brother, Howard Germain, aunt and uncle, Ernest and Francis Johnson; a niece Joanne Rawlings; and two great nephews Jeremy J. Rawlings and Stephen Taft.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sherry Logan; sisters Doris (Stewart) Baker and Cindy Crandall; three brothers Francis (Rose) Germain, Glen "Burt" (Pauline) Germain, and Richard Germain; a sister-in-law, Gail Germain; many nieces and nephews including Darryl (Sissy) Baker, Donavan (Jessie) Baker, and Damon Baker; with special mention to those he helped raise Greg (Theresa) Taft, Kim (Alfred) Brunelle, Michael and Kevin Taft; along with several cousins and friends.

Calling hours will take place Monday, Feb. 2, from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nancy Goff officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to his dear niece Kim, and her husband Al, for all they have done taking care of Ernie, to his nephew Damon for which he was especially close, and Dr. E. Pillemer, the nurses, and staff of Glens Falls Hospital.

In Ernie's name donations may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project at 370 7th Avenue, Suite 1802, New York, New York 10001.
