QUEENSBURY -- Ernest Benjamin Doin, 84, of Queensbury, died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital. A true patriot, he was forever young at heart, and never had a bad day.
He was born on February 26, 1930, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, the first of four children of Ernest Joseph Doin and Mary Piltman Doin. Ernie attended Nott Terrace High School prior to enlisting in the army; wherein he attained the rank of corporal.
He spent most of his working years as a car salesman, but also in the machine tool sales department at North American Carbide. He enjoyed cooking holiday meals, boating, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by three sons, William Doin of Schenectady, Richard Doin of Amsterdam, and Ronald Doin of Erie, Penn.; many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; two sisters, Carol Reutzel of Sacandaga Lake, N.Y. and Alice St. Louis of Montague, N.J.; a brother, Richard Doin of Plattsburgh; and his beloved & dear friend of many years, Carol McMonagle of Gansevoort, N.Y. Ernie was predeceased by his special Maine Coon feline companion, Bunkee.
At Ernie's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
Burial, with military honors, will take place at Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
