Obituary

QUEENSBURY – Ethel "Sis" M. Hecht, 77, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 after a long illness.

Born March 7, 1939 in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Ethel M. (Bristow) Wright.

Sis was a graduate of Commerce High School in Yonkers, New York and later was employed at Burlington Coat Factory in Scarsdale, New York.

On May 6, 1961 she married Robert D. Hecht at Our Lady of the Rosary located in Yonkers.

Her enjoyments were reading, shopping, crossword puzzles, and gambling. Most of all, she cherished her time spent with her family and cooking.

In addition to parents, Sis was predeceased by her husband, Robert Hecht; her brother, Thomas Wright; and sister-in-law, Arlene Atamanchuk; uncle Tommy Grindley, and dear friends, Ciro and Mary Marano.

Left to cherish her memory are her doting children, Brian of Queensbury, Maryann (her significant other Steve) of Palm Bay, Florida, Laura (husband, Rick Randall) of Hudson Falls, Robin (husband, Robert Flint) of Chester, Alison (husband, Robert DeGraw) of Gansevoort; grandchildren include Andrew and Marissa Hecht, Patricia Bucy, John Marano, Joshua Spina, Nicole and Nicholas Hegedus, Joanne, Amanda, and Antonio Flint, Brian and Alyssa McMullen; great grandchildren Michelle and Robert Greggs, Alena Bucy, Jacob, Alexis, and Isabella Marano; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kearns of Thornwood; an aunt, Heddy Grindley of Yonkers; nieces, Maryanne Faranda and Janet Miller Hecht; nephews, William Atamanchuk and James Hecht, along with several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thanks to Dr. Judkins, Dr. Stoutenberg, Dr. Monn and special friends Thelma, Doris, and Martha.

Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, August 6, at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.

A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating.
