Obituary

South Glens Falls -- Ethel Mae Marra, 81, of Leland St., passed away peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2016 at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born July 9, 1935 in Cambridge, NY she was the daughter of the late Mable Lackey.

Ethel was employed for many years in Dietary at Glens Falls Hospital and from there retired in 1996.

She also volunteered many hours to the Glens Falls Hospital and also the Stanton Nursing Home.

The many people Ethel came in contact with loved her because she had a big heart and she was always willing to help whomever she could.

Ethel always enjoyed going to bingo with the lady whom she thought of as a sister, Joan Ramsey, and her friends.

Her very special friend, Mary Stewart of Queensbury, NY was very near and dear to her as well.

Along with her mother, Ethel is predeceased by her brother, Charlie Marra of Oregon; her foster father, Lynn R. Smith of West Granville; and her foster sister-in-law, Marilyn Brownell of Schenectady, NY.

She is survived by her foster brother, William Brownelle of Schenectady, NY and his children, Glen and Janice Brownelle and Karen Lancto; and her 7 great nieces and nephews, all of Schenectady, NY. Ethel also had an extended family for the last 21 years that started with a lady she looked at as her sister, Joan Ramsey of South Glens Falls. Joan's family had stepped in and cared for Ethel as their "Aunt Ethel Mae". It was in that family Ethel had 4 very special boys that she thought of as her own, Joshua Pultorak, Michael Pultorak, Jacob Mahoney, and Christopher Mahoney all of South Glens Falls.

Calling hours will take place 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Phil Phaneuf of the United Methodist Church, Queensbury, officiating.

Interment will take place after the services at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury.
