WARRENSBURG --- Eugene (Gene) passed away at Glens Falls Hospital Tuesday afternoon, January 29, 2013, after a long battle with heart disease. His oldest son, Kevin and youngest daughter Kelly were with him when the end came.

He joins his wife Connie, his mother Alice & father Albert in the comforting arms of the Lord. He also joins his youngest son Jeffrey, sister Kathy and brother Morgan.

Gene is survived by 5 of his children, Kevin Monroe, Niki Hoag, Angie Proper, Samantha Parliman and Kelly Vincent, their spouses and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Wendell Harrington and his family, and his brother-in-law, Al Lyons and his family.

Once a proud member of the Warrensburg Fire Department with his brother Morgan, Eugene also spent his younger years running a successful logging business and a plowing business. In 1965 he went to work for the NYS DOT caring for our state highways until 1984 when he was hurt on the job and permanently disabled.

Neither his disability nor his weak heart prevented him from being an avid outdoorsman. His love for hunting and fishing were only superseded by the love he had for his family. He enjoyed being in the woods or on the lake and found peace many a day with a fishing poll at a favorite stream.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eugene's honor can be made to the Adirondack Save-A-Stray, 4880 Route 9N, Corinth, NY 12822, where Eugene got his beloved dog and constant companion, Foxy Girl.

A private ceremony for family and close friends will be held on Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg.
