QUEENSBURY --- Evelyn B. Lawson, 98, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Queensbury.
Born in Diamond Point, N.Y. on December 13, 1916, the daughter of the late Walter and Helen B. (Beswick) Truesdale and predeceased by two brothers, Arnold and George Truesdale.
Over the years, Evelyn held several jobs. She worked for Lang's Pharmacy in Lake George. She was a telephone operator, worked in the bookkeeping department at the First National Bank of Glens Falls. She was a cashier at Central Market, now Price Chopper, on Cooper Street.
Her first husband, Harlan Beckwith, died in 1950. In 1964 she married Joseph E. Lawson from Diamond Point. They lived in Diamond Point for a short time and then moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida. While at New Smyrna Beach, they bought the Normandy Apartments. Both Evelyn and Joseph enjoyed Florida. They were members of the Chapel on The Hill, UCC, Seminole, Florida.
After the passing of her husband, Joseph, in 2006, Evelyn moved to Queensbury to be near her son and daughter.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Brian Beckwith and his wife, Joan, of Corinth; one daughter, Linda (Beckwith) Machold and her husband, Richard, of Queensbury; two step-sons, George Lawson of Oneonta, and Rick Lawson and his wife, Jean, of Allyn, Washington; one grandson, Kevin Beckwith, of Nashua, N.H.; one granddaughter, Deborah (Beckwith) Waring and her husband, Dillard, of Bennington, Vt.; and two great-granddaughters, Courtney Saheim of Cambridge, N.Y. and Madeline Waring of Bennington, Vt.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nancy Borrow, pastor of Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her loving memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
