MOREAU – Forrest R. Lilly, 81, of Dogwood Dr., passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Fort Hudson Nursing Center.
Born, May 8, 1933, in West Glens Falls, Forrest was the son of Lewis H. and Ethel J. (Relyea) Lilly.
In 1952, Forrest enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea during the war as a jet engine mechanic, and was honorably discharged in 1957.
For many years, Forrest served as Warren County Deputy Sheriff, serving and protecting his community; a job he thoroughly loved. He was also a member of Queensbury V.F.W. Post No. 6196.
In his younger years, Forrest enjoyed riding motorcycles and had numerous dirt bikes which he loved riding with his son, Rick. He also sang and recorded many country western songs and performed whenever he had the chance.
Forrest loved telling good jokes and making people laugh. Above all, every opportunity was spent with his beloved companion, Margo, and her family.
In addition to his parents, Forrest was predeceased by his love, Margaret "Margo" Hall, two brothers, and his dear friend, Charlie King.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Rick (Sharon) Lilly, Gary Lilly, and Cheryl Rushing; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; along with many wonderful friends including Ty and Vicki Hall and William VanNess.
Calling hours will take place Sunday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, N.Y. 12804.
A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Bazinet officiating.
Burial with military honors will take place Monday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hudson Falls.
