Obituary

QUEENSBURY -- Francis M. Dingman Jr., 82 of Queensbury, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 at the Stanton Nursing Home, after a long illness.

He was born Feb. 9, 1932 in Glens Falls, the son of the late Francis Dingman Sr. and Dorothy (Kurby) Dingman.

Francis attended school at St. Mary's Academy of Glens Falls.

He then enlisted into the Marine Corps where he fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in Nov. 1952.

On Jan. 4, 1953 he married Shirley (Heil) Dingman at St. Mary's Church.

Francis worked as an electrician for Local Union 236 IBEW and retired in 1989.

He loved fishing and hunting, and was a site member of Memorial Det. No. 2 Marine Corps League.

In addition to his parents, Francis was predeceased by an infant son, Daniel Jude Dingman, a sister, Claire Dingman, and his daughter-in-law, Sheila Dingman.

His survivors include his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Heil) Dingman; four sons Francis Dingman III, Michael Dingman, wife Theresa, Patrick Dingman Sr., and Darrell Dingman; two daughters Alene Dingman and Audrey Ibrahim; ten grandchildren include James Dingman, Susan Strayer, Crystal Pond, Corey Pond, Fallon Dingman, Kirsten Dingman, Hope Ibrahim, Albie Ibrahim, Patrick Dingman Jr., and Damian Dingman; five step-grandchildren include Dan Bromley Jr., Heather Ballard, Heath Bromley, Celia Brown, and Cameron Brown; along with several great-grandchildren; two brothers Richard Dingman, wife Ann, and Ronald Dingman, wife Barbara; two sisters Dorothy Gilman and Martha Dickinson; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.

A funeral service will follow, at 4 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Busch, pastor of Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation officiating.

The family wishes to send their many thanks to the nurses and staff at The Stanton for their incredible care.
