Obituary

GLENS FALLS --- Frank J. DeZago, 66, went home to the Lord Thursday, October 10, 2024.

"Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity" – Mother Teresa.

Frank was born in Glens Falls, New York on September 19, 1958 and was the son of Francis and Carmela (Bizzaro) DeZago. Young Frank, an only child, was raised on Byrne Avenue in Glens Falls. His parents had struggled to conceive, and once they did, Frank was the light of their lives. The family photo albums show nothing but love and great memories. Unfortunately, Young Frank lost his dad at an early age so he and his mother learned to live without him.

Frank was a sports and history junkie. He was a diehard Oakland Raiders and San Francisco Giants fan, and when his teams weren't playing, it was the history channel. He loved concerts, reading, the Saratoga race track and classic rock. A Rolling Stones poster hung on his teenage bedroom door. He was the kind of guy who would walk out to a dock or sit on a park bench and really just take it all in. He didn't do social media. When he was with you, he was actually with you. He was an Italian man who was born to COOK. Frank graduated from Glens Falls Highschool in 1977. He then worked all over the Lake George and Glens Falls area. In the 80's, he was most often known as Frank the bouncer from George's upstairs / downstairs. He worked as a chef at many restaurants such as The Red Coach, The Garrison, Remmington's, Carl R's, Malucci's and George's. He was proud to have prepared meals for people like Mike Tyson and Sigourney Weaver and always got a kick out of being Sandy's Clam Bar's 'customer of the week'.

Frank had one daughter, Elizabeth. Her favorite days with her dad were spent at the beach as a kid. He would bring everything necessary to stay from sunup to sun down. The two also loved sitting at the Garrison bar playing quick draw and eating chicken wings and steamers. She will never forget his famous chocolate mousse cake that he'd make for her birthdays.

Frank was the life of the party with a great sense of humor. It's no wonder he had so many friends that became family, wherever he went. Steve Robertson of Vermont and Chris Harrington of Queensbury, NY gave him support and true friendship for many years as his health declined. He will be missed dearly by his lifelong friend and cousin, Michael (Joan) Perlitz of Leeds, NY, his daughter Elizabeth (Jacob) Bartholomew of South Glens Falls, NY and his two grandsons Trevor and Nathan. Frank was a man of his word and a man of God. He is in the Lord's care now.

Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
