Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Frank J. Zverblis, 93, of Queensbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2013.
Born in Binghamton, on May 6, 1921, he was the youngest son of Lithuanian immigrants, the late Joseph and Amelia (Mileika) Zverblis.
Graduating from Clarkson College of Technology, Potsdam, with a degree in Business Management, he married his college sweetheart, Betty C. Beers of Queensbury.
After Frank served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, they moved back to Queensbury where they raised their family and spent 52 years of marriage before Betty preceded him in death in 1995.
Employed by Arkell & Smiths / Chase Bag in Hudson Falls after the war, he worked in management until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Glens Falls where he was a past deacon and then an usher until the age of 89. He was elected and served a 20-year term on the Queensbury School Board of Education which included several years as president. Frank also was a volunteer fireman with the Bay Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, a 35-year member of the Glens Falls Lions Club; and a past Grand Master of the Glens Falls Masonic Lodge. He loved spending time with his family, exercising, and tending to his vegetable garden. Having played football at the collegiate level and having been named to the Lithuanian-All American football team in 1941, he always enjoyed a strong interest in sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, and two sisters.
Frank will be greatly missed by his daughters, Wendy Schmidt (Edward) of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and Lynne Fish (Neal) of Queensbury; his five grandchildren, Janna Trottier (Neal), of Fort Myers, Fla.; Jared Schmidt (Jill), of Tampa, Fla.; Briana Willigan (Michael), of Queensbury; Darren Fish and his fiancée, Katrina Mraz, of Clifton Park; and Blake Fish (Christy) of Watervliet; as well as four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Adam Trottier and Nathan and Morgan Willigan.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on April 13, 2013, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, followed by a celebration of life service at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. John Barclay officiating.
Burial, with military honors, will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury.
In lieu of flowers, the family desires that donations be made in Frank's name to the Bay Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, 1080 Bay Road, Lake George, NY, 12845; or the Bay Ridge Rescue Squad, 1109 Ridge Road, Queensbury, NY, 12804.
