LAKE GEORGE --- Freida M. Murphy, 85, of Bloody Pond Rd., Lake George, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at her home, with family by her side.
Born in Saugerties, New York on December 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Bernice (Snyder) Mower.
Freida was a graduate of Saugerties High School.
In 1950, she married Michael J. Murphy in her hometown of Saugerties.
She retired from Glens Falls National Bank as Head Teller in the Lake George branch. While employed, she was an active member of Business and Professional Woman's Club of Lake George.
Freida had a love for cooking and was well known for her famous rum cake. She was also an avid card player, and enjoyed spending time with her friends. Above all, she loved her family and grand kids.
In addition to her parents, Freida was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Michael J. Murphy, and her oldest son, Michael F. Murphy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children: her son, John Murphy and wife, Debbie, of Lake George, and her daughter, Patricia Thomas of Dade City, Florida; two grandchildren, Christian "Mickey" Thomas and partner, Alicia Patrick, of Glenmont, N.Y., and Caroline E. Murphy and partner, William Taylor, of Clifton Park; brother, Donald Mower and wife, Dorothy, of Vernon N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her furry companion named Maggie, a rescued Airedale from Save A Stray in Corinth.
Calling hours will take place Monday, December 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 22, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Lake George, with the Rev. Thomas Berardi officiating.
