BOLTON LANDING --- GAIL A. BARLOW, 83, of Trout Lake Rd., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 following a medical challenge.
Born on May 19, 1937, in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late William & Katherine (Ruckert) Masterson.
Gail received her early education in Queens, until her family moved to Bolton in 1950. She continued, and graduated from Bolton Central School in 1955. Following graduation, Gail returned to Queens, where she was employed in the repair department of Bell Telephone.
Gail returned to Bolton and married Robert C. Barlow on February 18, 1956. The couple married at her mother's home on Padanarum Rd. by Arthur Curren. Since Robert was in the military service, the couple resided in Saratoga Springs, Texas and Illinois before settling into their home on Trout Lake Rd. where they raised their Family in Bolton Landing.
Gail spent many years working in the Tourism Industry and when the opportunity arose, she went to work for Uncle Sam in the Postal Service where she finished her career as Post Master in Diamond Point, New York. She was proud to have collected on her retirement for a good long time.
Gail was a member of the Church of the St. Sacrament Episcopal in Bolton Landing, American Legion Auxiliary Post 961, The Bolton Firemen's Auxiliary, The Rebecca's, the Bolton Seniors, and the Bolton Book Club. Gail proudly served as a member of the Bolton Health Committee. She enjoyed R/Ving with her husband as well as a lifelong pastime of knitting and producing some of the most sought-after afghans and sweaters that will continue to be worn for a good long time. One of the most cherished memories will be of Gail's delicate flaky tasty pie crusts of which she made frequently and not to forget her delightful homemade bread.
Looking back over Gail's life one must acknowledge her compassion for others and how she always extended a helping hand to those in need. She was a giving soul who would go without to help others. Gail made personal sacrifices to ensure her children had opportunities. She taught her children by example how to be a good Christian, and we know the Good Lord was there with open arms to welcome Gail into her forever home.
In addition to her parents, Gail was predeceased by her husband of 47 years in 2002; Their daughter, Monica B. Gallagher, Gail's brother, John E. "Jack" Masterson, his daughter, Kimberly Masterson, brother-in-law, Horace "Junie" Baker Jr. as well as his son Eugene Baker.
