LAKE LUZERNE--- Gail Corlew, 90, a lifelong resident of Lake Luzerne, passed away, Thursday, April 2, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glens Falls on July 5, 1935, she was the daughter of Harry and Kathryn (Smith) Brayton.
Following her graduation from High School, Gail married William Corlew July 3, 1953 in Glens Falls and enjoyed 70 years of marriage before his death in July 2023. She had the pleasure of being a homemaker and raising their six children.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, and taking road trips to Maine and elsewhere with her daughters, and shopping trips with her daughter-in-law. She especially loved visiting her dear friend Helene Tripp at Christmas time to enjoy Helene’s many decorated Christmas trees. She also enjoyed Birthday parties and get togethers at Helene’s with Diane Morse, Becky Hoague, and daughter Dianne Sherman. Above all, Gail loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially at family gatherings.
In addition to her parents, Gail was also predeceased by her husband, William (Yogi) of 70 years; siblings, Janice Phillips, Kathryn Greenwood, Judith Brayton, Ralph Brayton and David Brayton; son in law, Ron McFarlane; grandchild, Tommy Kathan, and grandbaby, Lori Marie Thomas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dianna (John) Sherman of Fort Ann, Brenda McFarlane of Corinth, Wendy (John) Thomas of Stony Creek, Aaron (Barbara) Corlew of Corinth, Scott (Paula) Corlew of Corinth, and William (Kathleen) Corlew of Luzerne.
Grandchildren, Adam (Lisette) Corlew, Ryan (Carol) Corlew, Zackary (Taylor) Corlew, Derek (Laura) Corlew, Abigail Corlew, Jessica Corlew, and Garrett (Randi) Corlew, Andrew (Sasha) Lewis, Justin Thomas, Keith Kathan, Brandon (Leah) Thomas, Hannah (Ryan) Breason and Bob (Sabrina) Barber.
Great Grandchildren, Andrea, Hunter and Harley Lewis, Jaxson Corlew, Emma Corlew, Gage Thomas, William, Roselynn and Eleanor Breason, Isabell, Nevaeh, Amayah, Brynlee and Madisyn Barber, Logan and Braylyn Kathan, Lydia Thomas and Beau Corlew; Gail is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and her special cats Missy, Cali and Tuxedo Tom.
At Gail’s request there will be no public service. A private graveside ceremony will be held at Sandy Hill Cemetery in Hudson Falls.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all who cared for her during her illness. Special thanks to Glens Falls Hospital 4 West 4th floor surgical unit as there are too many individual nurses to list that showed professionalism and compassion during her stay as well as the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center.
