Gary
Braley
May 21, 1939 — Sep 11, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father Gary Braley on September 11, 2025 at the age of 86 years old. He was born in Newcomb, New York on May 21, 1939. He was a devoted husband and father and cherished his kids and grandchild.
He was known for his sense of humor, he loved to take spontaneous car rides, loved his golf cart, hunting, snowmobiling and nature. He also had a love for music in which he played the steel guitar, piano and organ and was in many bands over the years.
He served in the US Navy for six years in which he achieved an honorable Discharge. He was proud of his service and his country. He was stationed in Argentia Newfoundland in which that was where he met his wife Ruth O'Keefe whom he would be married to for 60 years. He worked for the International Operating Engineers for 40 years working on many jobs one including the Long Jump Ski Jump at Lake Placid Olympic Center.
Gary will be a forever guiding light in our lives and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Braley; son, Brian Braley; daughter, Tamie Braley; along with his granddaughter, Emma Braley her partner Trevor Eastman.
We would like to thank all the nurses on 4 West Glens Falls Hospital and to Dr. Scalia for their wonderful medical services and care.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Newcomb Cemetery.
