Gary Franklin Cook, formerly of Delaware Avenue in Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 22, 2013, at his son, Gary John's, home following a long brave battle with cancer.
Born in New London, Connecticut on November 14, 1957, he was the son of Marjorie Dawn (Witt) and Gary Franklin Cook Sr.
He attended South Glens Falls High School where his finest accomplishment was receiving an award for being the best "con artist" of the year for talking other students out of their lunches; highlighting his quirky, fun sense of humor.
Gary struck out on his own at a young age traveling across the country on his own; living in California for a time, but always managed to return to the Glens Falls area and his roots.
He was a very accomplished carpenter in the area, working as a self-contractor. Gary's work spoke for itself, with all the pride he put into any job he was doing.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, beer and women… (In that order ...per Gary!!), as well as time with his family and friends.
Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by two brothers, Wayne Cook and Glen Cook as well as his brother-in-law Butch Morehouse, His best friend, Scott Heydrick, his companion, Elaine Phillips, and his dearest forever friend who was always there for him, Clarissa Owens.
Survivors include his three sons, Gary J. Cook (Francine) of Saratoga, Jason F. Cook (Jessica ) of Glens Falls, Jes C. Cook (Sonya) of Hudson Falls, His grandchildren; Jay Lynn, Mya and Ava. Three sisters, Marcia (Kevin) Fistick, Luwanna Morehouse and Carlene (Joseph) LaPage all of North Carolina; several loving nieces and nephews. Gary also includes his sister-in-law, Judy Cook (Dave Howard) as well as her children, Jodie, Todd and Craig and families, as well as a good friend, Victoria Ramsey and Bonnie Washburn. Although separated, always remembered with love, the mother of his three boys, Karen Allen.
He also wishes to thank his loving friend/sister of over 30 years, Irma (Jeff) Hamblin of Glens Falls for all of her love, compassion and support over the years and throughout his illness, also her children, Serena and Scott Heydrick and family.
Family and friends may call from 12 to 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2013,
at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street in Queensbury, NY. Gary asks that all come dressed casually.

Also, he thanks his Home Health Aide, Christy and Stacy from Washington County Hospice. Also, Saratoga County Hospice for such a smooth transition with his move; they were such a comfort to him.
