Obituary

GLENS FALLS --- Genevieve (Jean) Stein, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at home with loved ones by her side.

Born August 3, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of Mary (Byrne) and Thomas Bryan. At age 12 Genevieve moved to Lindenhurst, NY.

Genevieve graduated from Lindenhurst High School.

She married Robert C. Stein on July 2, 1955, just after he came back from the Korean War.

Genevieve worked on Grumman Aircrafts as well as working at the Queensbury Hotel. Both jobs were previous to her spending 18 years working for Adirondack Home Health Care. She started as an aide and moved up to supervisor of Home Health Care.

She was a very active volunteer at Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary, House of Grace, Hospice, Open Door, and the Pantry at St. Mary's.

She was a very active member of St. Mary's church which included her being a eucharistic minister, Genivieve had a lot of faith.

Her faith, family, and neighborhood cat, "Paddy" meant the most to her.

When Genevieve had free time, she was doing what she loved, reading, going to the ocean, gardening (she had a green thumb), laughing, and dancing.

Genevieve also had a lifelong love of dogs and cats.

In addition to her parents, Genevieve was predeceased by Mary Usher, Catherine Bianchi, Robert (Rob), William, and great grandchildren Mackenzie and Sydney Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert, Chris (Margaret) Stein, and Diane (Todd); grandchildren, Kristin Lord, Hunter and Emma Stein; as well as a great grandchild, Maddie Lord.

Calling hours will take place 10 to 11 a.m. on May 31, 2024 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A mass service will follow at St. Mary's Church, 62 Warren St., Glens Falls, at 11:30 a.m.

A graveside ceremony will follow at 2p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville.
