UPDATED FUERAL NOTICE:
A graveside service, with military honors, will take place Friday, April 22, 2016 at noon at Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
FT. EDWARD --- George W. Troumbley Jr., 66, a longtime resident at Shady Pines in Fort Edward, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 with his family by his bedside.
Born in Glens Falls on Jan. 11, 1950, he was the son of the late George W. Troumbley Sr. and Theora M. (Hamblin) Troumbley.
George entered in the United States Army May 5, 1969 and served in Vietnam during the war before he was honorably discharged Dec. 22, 1971.
On March 15, 1973, he married Shirley A. Winslow at Harrisena Community Church. He became very close with his wife's parents, Lawrence and Irma Winslow, with whom he spent much time with.
For many years, George worked at Glens Falls Hospital where he served in many areas, including security, maintenance, and grounds keeping.
Some of the activities George enjoyed were hunting and fishing, and spending time with family at their gatherings.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Troumbley Sr., and a brother-in-law, John Blanchard.
Survivors include his beloved spouse of nearly 43 years, Shirley Troumbley of Ft. Edward; a daughter, Laurie Troumbley (John Crossman) of Ticonderoga; a son, George Troumbley (Vanessa Whiting) of Ft. Ann; six grandchildren, Joe, Jon, and Josh Troumbley and Greg, Nicole, and Bridget Pratt; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Donna Blanchard of Gansevoort; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his two special Pekingese dogs, Gizmo and Teddy.
Calling hours will take place Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will follow at noon with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating.
Interment will take place in the spring at Southside Cemetery.
