Obituary

Gerald "Gerry" Gordon Trudell, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at home in Queensbury, NY with his family and beloved dog by his side. Gerry was born March 13, 1959 in Saranac Lake, NY to Roy P. Trudell and Margaret A. Trudell (Barkman).

Gerry graduated from Saranac Lake Central High School in 1977 and enlisted in the United States Army, graduating from basic training at Fort McClellan in 1978. He served for 3 years as a military police officer stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.

Gerry acquired a love for hockey early on by watching "Hockey Night in Canada" on CBC every Wednesday and Saturday night. Growing up, he nurtured his passion for the sport by playing in all levels of youth hockey in Saranac Lake from Squirts to Bantam. Gerry continued to play hockey into adulthood with friends and teammates all around the Capital District and Saratoga area. He passed on his love of hockey to his son, Ben, coaching for his youth teams and building a backyard ice rink every winter. He was an avid NY Rangers fan and enjoyed being outdoors camping, fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking, and skiing.

Gerry met his partner, Brenda, in 1991 through work at Reliable Racing and they bonded over their love of dogs and outdoor recreation. During their 34 year relationship, they lived in Gansevoort until 2018 when they moved to Queensbury. Gerry's proudest role was as a father to Ben, Chris, Jenn and their many dogs: Spike, Smoky, Tilly, Charlie, Griffin, Riley, and Bodhie.

Gerry is survived by his partner, Brenda Stark; son, Benjamin Trudell (Kelsey), and granddogs Zuke and Mooney; daughter, Jennifer Comisky; son, Christopher Comisky (Kimberly); and Grandchildren, Abigail, Avery, and Charlotte. He is also survived by a number of his siblings, Anne Trudell (Raymond Houle), Mark Trudell (Donna Perry), Philip Trudell (Donna), Jeanne Fischer (Clay), Stephen Trudell (Irene), Carol Green, Paul Trudell (Jody), and Eric Trudell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Margaret Trudell; sister, Lillian Wellman; and several aunts and uncles.

Gerry's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and doctors from Glens Falls Hospital 2nd, 5th, and 6th floors and the incredible team at High Peaks Hospice for their patience, care, and support during this difficult time.
