GLENS FALLS --- Geraldine "Gerry" Dowden Holmquist, 93, of Glens Falls, NY, passed away peacefully Friday, December 7, 2012, at her home.
Born February 25, 1919, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Frederick W. Dowden and Amelia T. Dowden.
Gerry was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1937. She married William "Bill" Holmquist on May 18, 1941. They were married for almost 70 years until Bill passed away September 20, 2011.
For years, she worked at St. Alphonsus School as the school librarian. Gerry was very active in the St. Alphonsus parish and school. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and attended many air force reunions with him.
In addition to her parents, Gerry was predeceased by her husband Bill.
Survivors include one child, Amelia "Amy Lou" Hill, of Queensbury, NY; granddaughter, Kelly Preston (Richard); grandson, Geoffrey Hill (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Ashley Wagner, Ryan Preston, Madison Hill, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
A Mass of a Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Warren St., Glens Falls presided over by her cousin, the Rev. Nellis Tremblay.
Interment will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
