QUEENSBURY --- Gilda Finamore, 96, most recently of West Mountain Rd., Queensbury, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at her home.
Born May 10, 1921 in Paterson, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Vita (Murano) Totino.
Gilda attended East Side High School in Patterson, New Jersey.
She married James Finamore on May 10, 1942 and had the privilege of being a homemaker and raising her children.
Some of her enjoyments included reading and word find puzzles. She was a member of Silver Ridge Park North Club in Toms River, New Jersey.
Gilda was a working wife while her loving husband, James, served in the U.S Army during WWII in Europe. He was overseas for three years, landing on Omaha Beach on day 2 of the US Invasion. She worked in a war factory stateside making flashlights for US troops.
She loved her homes over the years in Paterson, N.J., Hawthorne, N.J., Toms River, N.J., Florida, and most recently at Westbrook Active Senior Community in Queensbury, N.Y.
In addition to her parents, Gilda was predeceased by grandparents, Vitantonio and Angiola Murano; her loving husband, James Finamore; three sisters, Daisy Rose, Clara Lavorgna, and Lucy Pelligra; three brothers, Phillip, Raymond and Fred Totino; three nieces, Joyce Lavorgna, Laura Rogers and Lisa Pantano; six nephews, Robert and Charles "Bud" Rose, Fred "Skip" Totino, Louis Pantano, Anthony Finamore and Harry Ferraro; 11 sisters-in-law; and 15 brothers-in-law.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, James M. (Joanne) Finamore (Queensbury, N.Y.) and Ronald (Yvonne) Finamore (Sussex, N.J.); 11 grandchildren, James M. Finamore, Jr. (Lake Luzerne, N.Y.), Jonathan Finamore (Clare, MI), Christine Anderson (Argyle, N.Y.), Caroline Howard (Lakeland, FL), Ronald Finamore (Sussex, N.J.), Timothy Finamore (Sussex, N.J.), Anthony Finamore (Glenwood, N.J.), John Finamore (West Milford, N.J.), Rev. Steven Moore (Marcellus, N.Y.), Scott Moore (Granville, N.Y.) and Shawn Moore (Queensbury); 25 great-grandchildren, Behn and Peter Finamore (Lake Luzerne, N.Y.), Lucy Clute (Lake Luzerne, N.Y.), James "Jamie" LaFarr (Queensbury, N.Y.), Victoria, Scott and Kendra Anderson (Argyle, NY), Luke Finamore (Lakeland, FL), Lauren Finamore (Queensbury, N.Y.), Katie Howard (Lakeland, FL), Casandra Roberts and Ethan Finamore (Wantage, N.J.), William Roberts (Andover, N.J.), Jennifer Finamore (Dingman's Ferry, PA), Bella and Gage Finamore (California), Addison Finamore, Ryan Finamore, Austin Kohler and Savannah Kohler (Glenwood, N.J.), Myla Finamore (W. Milford, N.J.), Cason Moore and Hailey Godette (Granville, N.Y.), James and Miriam Moore (Marcellus, N.Y.); two sisters-in-law, Gloria Finamore (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Josephine Finamore (Cortland, N.Y.); four nieces, Phyllis Mauro (Mt. Arlington, N.J.), Lois Zapernick (Scottsdale, AZ), Judith MacNish (Wayne, N.J.) and Michele Staada (Hawthorne, N.J.); 10 nephews, John "Jack" Rose (Glendale, AZ), Richard Rose (Warren, OH), George Lavorgna (Flagstaff, AZ), John Michael Finamore (Cortland, N.Y.), Michael Finamore, Gary Finamore, Dean Finamore, Mark Finamore, Joseph Finamore, and Joseph Vassallo (all of New Jersey); and also several cousins.
Per Gilda's request, there will be no calling hours.
A private burial ceremony will take place at Ocean County Memorial Park Association, Toms River, N.J.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Neighbors New York for the loving and caring companionship provided during the past year, especially by Elaine Callan and her associates, Dale Batch and Anna Boyer, as well as the staff of High Peaks Hospice and Dr. Tedesco and his staff.
