FORT ANN--- Gloria A. Hill, 79, of Sly Pond Road, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born November 4, 1941 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Floyd "Pete" C. Smith and Lavancha "Van" M. (Fuller).
She graduated from Queensbury High School in 1958. Gloria had various jobs in bookkeeping and data processing through the years, retired from Angio Dynamics where she used her attention to detail in manufacturing and quality control.
She married Rodney E. Hill on December 6, 1959 in the West Glens Falls Community Chapel and have spent 61 years together. Rodney was in the Army from 1958 to 1962 and Gloria was a military spouse.
She enjoyed attending family and friend gatherings, working in her flower garden, listening to music and dancing, seeing her daughter Vicky play in the community band, seeing her daughter Valerie sing in shows anywhere, visiting with her daughter Debbie and her horses (Starr and Griffin), playing board games with her grandchildren, taking summer vacations in Maine, RV camping with Rodney, family, and friends.
Gloria's parents have predeceased her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her spouse Rodney E. Hill of Fort Ann; children, Debbie Hinchliffe (Frank Romano) of Gansevoort, Valerie Hill (Jody Madaras) of Branson, MO, and Vicky Greene (Paul Greene) of Fort Ann; grandchildren, Dannica Campbell (Michael Campbell) of Fort Ann, Rodney Greene (Priya Greene) of Lee NH, Matt Hinchliffe (Kristen Kukan) of Scotia, Dillon Hinchliffe (Kiri Jefferies) of Nagano, Japan, and Angela Romano (Charlie Mellon) of Queensbury ; great grandson, Grayson Campbell of Fort Ann; sister, Vicki Rivett of Queensbury; cousin Sandy Brown (Glen Brown) of Queensbury; nephews, Chris Rivett (Nancy Rivett) of Queensbury, Jeff Rivett of Queensbury, and Hollis Hill of Glens Falls; niece, Wanda Hill (John Williams) of Glens Falls; and her dog Toby "Meme's baby."
Calling hours will take place Thursday, April 22 from 5 to 7p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will be held, Friday, April 23 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Flossie Bates officiating. A graveside ceremony will follow the funeral at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY 12871.
Friends are invited to join the family at Dannica and Michael Campbell's house after the burial, 32 Twiss Road, Fort Ann, NY. Please dress for an outside reception.
