GRANVILLE --- Gloria Marie Metz, 86, most recently a resident of The Orchard Nursing Home in Granville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016.
Born Aug. 4, 1929 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Louise (Grimm) Grummond.
Gloria earned her diploma from Mount Saint Florence School.
On Sept. 17, 1950, Gloria married Charles L. Metz at St. Raphael's Church in Long Island City.
For fifteen years, she worked as a school bus driver on Long Island. She was also Head of Transportation for ACTS Inc. Retirement Community in Vero Beach, Fla. for ten years.
Some of her enjoyments included oil painting, singing opera and hymns, as well as serving a decade of foster grand-parenting.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband, and her friend who was like a sister, Alice Pope.
Survivors include four children, Charlene Metz (Richard Jordan) of Glens Falls, Janet (Joe) Catapano of Walton, N.Y., Lorraine (Mark) Poidomani of Patchogue, N.Y., and Charles (Robbin) Metz of East Bethel, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Keri, Kristy, Chuck, Clinton, Jesse, and Darbe; seven great-grandchildren; several nephews, and a niece.
At the family's request, there will be no services at this time.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 24, at 11:30 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Gloria, may be sent to Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801, or to The Orchard Activities Fund, 10421 State Route 40, Granville, NY 12832.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Critical Care Unit and the Tower Three staff at Glens Falls Hospital.
