RAQUETTE LAKE-Gordon Walter Gauvin, 91, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born May 29, 1925 at home in Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y., he was the son the late Alfred and Gladys (King) Gauvin.
Gordon's career path took him to Tahawus, N.Y. for National Lead Co., then to Amsterdam, N.Y. where he worked for Fownes Bros. Glove Factory until retirement. Coming out of retirement, Gordon was employed by DEC and worked at his beloved Tioga Point in Raquette Lake.
Among his hobbies and interests were his daily golf dates with daughter Nancy, trapping, hunting and fishing with his brothers, spending time in Cold River with Noah John Rondeau, woodworking and building rustic furniture and traveling internationally for business.
Gordon was predeceased by one son, Gordon W. Gauvin and his second wife, Winnie.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ella; three daughters, Paula (Martin), Holly (Louis), and Nancy (Jeff); three sisters-in-law, Mary Gauvin, Evelyn Thompson, and Irene Budreau; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At Gordon's request, there will be no calling hours.
A memorial of his life will be held at a later date.
