Hagop "Jack" Sarkis Poladian, born on Feb. 25, 1935 in Kessab, Syria, son of the late Sarkis and Ovsanna (Hovsepian) Poladian passed away unexpectedly early Oct. 10, 2015 surrounded by his family in Albany Medical Center.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Bakerian) Poladian of 40 years, and two brothers, Vartan Poladian and Alexan Poladian.
Upon arrival to the United States in 1963 he lived in Albany, N.Y. where he began working at Commadore Cleaners until relocating to Queensbury N.Y. Jack and his brothers Abraham and Solomon purchased Aroxy Cleaners in 1970 and they have built a successful business in Queensbury and in Los Angeles, CA. Jack and Helen Bakerian were married in Albany in 1964 and were blessed with three children Pauline, Joann and Richard.
In addition to his dedication to being a loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he dedicated a lot of his life to operating a successful business and was able to find great joy in his customers.
He was active in the Elks Club and Lions Club for many years. He was a generous man who donated much of his time and made many charitable contributions to local organizations over the years.
His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards with his friends as well as spending many summers at the Saratoga Race Track. One of his dreams was to visit his homeland, Armenia, and that dream came true just two weeks ago. Along with his brothers Abraham and Solomon he visited many sites in Armenia and cherished the rich Armenian culture.
Survivors include his daughters, Pauline Poladian of Queensbury, Joann Quinn of Ballston Spa, and son, Richard (Rachael) Poladian of Queensbury; his grandchildren, Alexis Poladian, Daniel Quinn, and Emily Quinn; his brothers, Abraham (Sossie) Poladian and their children, Solomon (Maral) Poladian and their children; his sisters, Haiguhie Nazarian and her children, Lydia (Garo) Saghdejian and their children, and Annette Zidane and her children; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours are Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, N.Y. 12804.
Funeral services are Thursday, October 15, 10:00 a.m. at St. Peters Church, 100 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, N.Y. 12189. Burial to follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy, N.Y.
