Obituary

STONY CREEK --- Harold J. Allen, "Butch", 80, of States Rd., passed away in Glens Falls hospital with pneumonia on Monday, November 20, 2023. He spent his last days surrounded by love.

Born January 21, 1943, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late, William E. and Blanche M. (Webb) Allen. The last of six children.

At 17, Butch began his military career and spent many years serving his country. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1960 to 1962 followed by the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1970 and then 1971 to 1974. He then served in the NY Air National Guard from 1978 to 1982. As a pneumatic and hydraulic technician, he worked on several different aircraft to include the B-52, KC-135, U2 and A-10.

Butch had a keen mind and was very close with his siblings. He enjoyed spending time with family and making everyone laugh with his great sense of humor. His other love was riding his Harley.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his grandparents, Bertha and George Webb; his brother, Gerald and his wife Margaret Ann; his brother, William and his wife June; his sister-in-law, Jean Ann Allen; his brother-in-law, Robert Robichaud; and brother-in-law, Jack Calkins; his son, Brian Allen and daughter, Kerri Parrish.

Butch loved the view from his chair overlooking the most beautiful property in Stony Creek, where he lived with his granddaughter, Taylor, her husband, David and his great grandson John, who would sit with him in his chair, watching the wildlife visit.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Norma Calkins of Auburn, NY and Patricia Robichaud of Queensbury, NY; his brother, Roger Allen of Plainfield, IL; his son Michael and wife, Kelly of Ormond Beach, FL; his daughter, Janet Smith and husband, Don of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Roette Palmatier of South Glens Falls; son Richard and wife, Dawn of Corinth; his grandchildren, Charles, Amanda and Nicholas Allen, Amanda Meetze, Justin Stancliff; David C. Page Jr.; Jennifer Brayton and Krysta Rheel; Carly, Kendra and Shelby Allen; Amanda Parker, Taylor Hughes and husband, David Emmerling, and Morgan Edmunds; his great-grandchildren, Lexus Elisabeth, Zoey Mae, Kaleb Michael Andrew and Aria Rian Millington; Aiden, Atreyu, Lukka and Bella Allen; Landon James, John Edward Jr., William Wesley and Noelyn Davis Meetze, Alayna Jayne Stancliff, David Charles Page, III, Thomas James, Rachel Elizabeth and William Alexander Page; Connor Joseph, Graysen Scott, Paisley Rayne and Everleigh Dawn Ives; Jaden Alexandria Bullard, Pheonix Frances Brayton and John David Emmerling; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside ceremony with military honors will take place Monday, December 4, at 12 p.m. at Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville.

A reception will follow at Old Saratoga American Legion, 6 Clancy St. in Schuylerville.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Tedesco and to the nurses and staff at Glens Falls Hospital Tower 2 Unit for all of their love and gentle kindness they showed Butch and the entire family.
