GLENS FALLS --- Helen M. (Morphis) Reed, 92, of Robert Gardens North, is now walking hand in hand with her loved ones in Heaven, free of the gravity of her earthbound pains. She passed on from this world Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 from Glens Falls Hospital.
Born Feb. 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Myrtle P. (Sage) Morphis.
A lifelong resident of Glens Falls and Corinth, Helen graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1941. Her father, who originated from Greece, educated Helen in her Greek heritage, which she cherished.
She was always a loving, generous woman who enjoyed mountains, flowers, and bucolic scenery. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, and old movies.
She was happiest when being helpful in some way. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose life centered around her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Marie Fairbanks (Robert); a brother, John Morphis (Mary); husbands, John Allen who passed away in WWII, Edward Lathrop, and Norman Reed; and five grandchildren, Jimmy Carlton, Scott and Victor Minor, and Jeffrey and Amy MacDougall.
Those left to cherish her memory are Wanda Bennett (David) of Florida, Sharon Bird (Loren) of New Hampshire, John Allen (Shirley) of Hudson Falls, Gloria MacDougall (Rory) of Louisiana, Richard Lathrop (Nancy) of Warrensburg, Ericka Lathrop of Queensbury, Susan Kenny (David) of Florida, Marilyn Spiezio (George) of Greenwich, Peter Lathrop (Polly) of Hebron, Michael Lathrop of Fort Plains, New York, and Deborah McHugh (Scott) of South Carolina; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no services at this time. A memorial service to celebrate Helen's life will be held in the summer.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to everyone at Irongate Center in Glens Falls, especially Dr. Cunningham, as well as Helen's physical therapist Denise Jackson, and the Glens Falls Hospital staff who cared for Helen, with special mention of 3 West A, for all their excellent and compassionate care. The family also wishes to thank Esther Lombardi and Josephine Guaracio for being longtime friends.
