Queensbury - Helen Bigley Pearl entered into Eternal Rest on the 4th day of August, 2026 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Albany, NY on December 8, 1930 to Katheryn and Curtis Bigley, who we know welcomed her with loving arms when she left this earth and joined them in heaven. Her husband Jerry was also there to give her a big hug.

Helen graduated in 1949 from Milne High School and attended Oneonta State Teachers College where she graduated in 1953. She taught elementary grades in East Greenbush, NY for several years before marrying and having a family.

Helen married Jerome Joseph Pearl, the son of Ethel Alheim Pearl and Leonard Jerome Pearl, on February 22, 1958, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Albany, NY, had three children (Julie, Jean and Jeffrey), and worked with Jerry in his greenhouse/flower shop on Sand Creek Road in Albany until 1966. Jerry, Helen and their three children moved to Queensbury in 1966, had one more daughter, Jennifer, and raised their family. Helen returned to the teaching field in childcare and nursery school in 1975 and worked until retiring in 1995. Helen sustained a strong faith in God and practiced that faith regularly as a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glens Falls where she was an active member for over 58 years. She enjoyed singing in the choir at church, needlepoint and other crafts, spending time with family and friends, and cooking. She was an inspiration to her family in many ways, including leading Osteobusters classes every Tuesday and Thursday for many years and attending Tai Chi classes every Friday at the Glens Falls Senior Center. Helen was also a member of the local chapter of P.E.O (Philanthropic Educational Organization) for the past 10 years and enjoyed helping women pursue higher education.

She is survived by her four children that she loved with all her heart and two precious grandchildren that she loved beyond words: daughter, Julie Pearl, Queensbury, daughter, Jean Pearl Waterbury (David), Watertown, NY; son, Jeffrey Pearl, Queensbury; daughter, Jennifer Pearl Cornell (Joseph), Pocatello, ID; and grandchildren, that were the love of her life, Catherine (Adam) and Holden Cornell. She was also survived by her beloved family in-laws: sister-in-law, Mary Michelle Bigley; nieces, Claire (Joseph) Hogan, and Carolyn Lee; nephews, Mark Bigley (Giselle) and John Bigley (Ashley). Helen was predeceased by her husband, Jerome and brother, Lt. Col., US Army, Edward Bigley.

Helen was a loving, strong-willed, kind, patient, and compassionate mom, wife, sister, daughter, and friend with a flair for life, which she was able to retain throughout her long life. Helen’s smile and sweet spirit will forever live in all who were fortunate to know her.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Landing at Queensbury for all the loving care they gave to Helen during her time there. Thank you to the doctors and staff of Glens Falls Hospital for the care, companion and wisdom given to Helen and her family during her recent stay there.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, NY.

A service to celebrate her life will be conducted on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Glens Falls, with Pastor Paul Wagner officiating.

Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y., following the service. Her family is grateful for the comfort that comes from knowing how many people cared for Helen and whose lives she positively influenced.
