Crown Point/Greenfield Center. Helen Josephine (Hay) Stutzenstein of Crown Point and formerly of Greenfield Center, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born in Glen Lake, NY on October 3, 1942, the daughter of the late Robert C. and Josephine (Gallagher) Hay.

Helen is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Stutzenstein, whose love and companionship brought her great joy. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Scott and Christopher Gunther; her daughters, Victoria Stutzenstein-Mankad (David), Karen Germond (Daniel), and Katherine Girdich (Samuel); her cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Declan, Jessica, Eric, Margaret, and Spencer; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Zachary, Jaxson, Cambria, Veronica, Dylan, Michael and Jeffery; all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Gunther; her parents, Robert C. and Josephine Hay; and her beloved siblings, Gloria Hlavaty, Eleanor Barrows, Robert Hay and David Hay.

Helen dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, serving the communities of Saratoga, Glens Falls, and the Adirondack region with compassion and commitment. Before pursuing her nursing career, she fondly reflected on her early years as a nursery school teacher, a role that reflected her lifelong love of nurturing and caring for others.

Helen will be remembered for her caring spirit, her dedication to her family and profession, and the many lives she touched through her kindness. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, friends, former colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff of Elderwood at Ticonderoga for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care they provided.

Visitation for both Helen and her husband, Richard, will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A memorial will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
