FORT EDWARD

Helen Marie Winney, 87, of Lower Oak Street, passed away Sunday October 9, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Taborton, N.Y. on July 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Herman) Hoffay.

Helen married Albert Gardner 'Bob' Winney November 6, 1965.

Some of her enjoyments included reading, gardening, horses, and sipping manhattans. She also loved time spent with family, including hosting and cooking at holiday dinners, and going home to visit her brothers in Taborton.

For many years Helen was a secretary in the insurance industry and was also a receptionist for Weight Watchers for a few years. Helen turned to homemaking when she had her kids and then later took care of her seven grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Albert 'Bob' Winney; her brother Frank Hoffay; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Walter Dwojakowski.

Left to cherish her memories are her two children, Amy (Joseph) Hinchliffe and Robert Winney; daughter-in-law, Becky Winney; two siblings, Robert (Nancy) Hoffay, Fred (Sue) Hoffay; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor and Alexis Winney, Gavin Krywy, Nicholas and Michael Sherman, and Ryan Hinchliffe; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 13 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

There will be another hour of visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, October 14, prior to a funeral service at 10 a.m., all held at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Engert, High Peaks Hospice Chaplain, officiating.

Burial next to her late husband will follow at Bacon Hill Cemetery, 110 Stonebridge Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.

There will be a gathering following services at the Idle Hour Club located on Rogers Island, Fort Edward immediately following the services until 4 p.m.

Donations may be made in Helen's memory to High Peaks Hospice located at 79 Glenwood Avenue 2 nd Floor, Queensbury, NY 12804.

The family would like to sincerely thank High Peaks Hospice of Queensbury, especially Kathy, Patty, and Stacey. They would also like to thank Rev. Richard Engert and Dr. Tedesco for their compassionate care that allowed them to keep their Mom home.
