MOREAU — Henry E. Moffitt, 68, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012.
He was born Oct. 19, 1943, in Friends Lake, and was the son of the late Henry and Mabel (Barrett) Moffitt of Warrensburg.
Mr. Moffitt grew up on his family farm in Bogtown and attended Salem Central School until the sixth grade. He then moved to Warrensburg with his family and attended
Warrensburg Central Schools. On Feb. 24, 1962, he married the love of his life, Sylvia A.
Moffitt, and together they raised seven children. He worked for Bob Sweet and McPhillip Sawmills in the early years and has worked the past 30 years for the Lake George Club.
Henry enjoyed every possible moment on his motorcycle riding the roads of New York, Vermont and Massachusetts with his friend and nephew, Richie Hayes, his niece Iona Harrington and her husband Al and others. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
In recent years, he enjoyed driving around the old towns and roads and sharing his life stories with his children. They will cherish them for a lifetime.
Henry is also a very spiritual man and leaves this verse for everyone: "For preaching of the Cross is to them who perish foolishness; but unto us who are Saved it is the Power of God" — Cor. 1:18.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Sylvia A. Moffitt, two sisters, Elenora Baker and Ethel Wood, and two brothers, Carl and Leonard Moffitt.
Survivors include his sister, Florence, and her husband, Harold (Gabby) Hayes, of Warrensburg; three daughters, Tina Pidgeon and her husband, Clifton, of Hadley,
Doreen Woodard and her husband, Daniel, of Lake George, Louise VanCleave and her husband, Virgil, of Moreau; four sons, Henry Moffitt Jr. and his wife, Rosa, of Corinth, Wayne Moffitt and his wife, Sue, of Fort Edward, Acey Moffitt of Lake George, and Victor Moffitt and his wife, Wendy of Corinth; four granddaughters, Jacqueline, Sammie, Sarah and Sabrina; six grandsons, Clifton Jr., Joshua, Richard, Mackenzie, Acey Jr. and Alex, and his great-grandchildren, Imajin, Jazmine, Hailey, Randolph, Donovan and Connor and several nieces and nephew. He also leaves behind his loved companion pug, Ottis.
We want to send a very special thanks to his nephew, Richie Hayes, for his unending devotion and companionship toward our father.
