Obituary

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Harold Evans "Babe" Peceu Jr., 66, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born in Glens Falls on June 4, 1949, he was the son of the late Harold and Genevieve (Bumbard) Peceu Sr.

Babe attended St. Alphonsus before attending and graduating from Glens Falls High School.

He later served the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged in June of 1975.

For 30 years Babe was working construction as a roofer for Scarincios Roofing located in Glens Falls. It was a job he enjoyed doing.

Babe was also a camping enthusiast, spending a lot of time with friends at campgrounds throughout the north country, like Garnet Lake in Johnsburg. Campfires were his favorite part whether it was raining, cold or in the summer heat the times he spent with friends out under the stars will be cherished always. Babe also spent time hunting and fishing and was a big NASCAR fan, whose favorite driver was none other than Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Along with his parents, Babe is predeceased by his beloved golden retriever, Gabrielle.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Kelly Peceu (Matt Bowe) and Allison (James) Rawson, his six grandchildren, Noel, Alexis, and Molly Peceu, Tristin Mattison, Julianna and Katie Rawson; a sister, Diane Colton of NC; two brother Peter (Corinee) Peceu and Jeffrey Peceu; three nephews, Stephen and Kenny Colton and Brian Peceu; his cat, Jack; as well as, his dear friends, Lynne (Rusty) Gill, Courtney Pixley and her children, Nathaniel and Germaine, and Peter Oddy.

Donations in memory of Babe can be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Special thanks is sent to Glens Falls Hospital Tower 5 nurses and Dr. Tedesco.

A graveside service with military honors will take place on Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m. at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY.
