DIAMOND POINT --- Graveside services with military honors for Horace and Shirley Finkle, both of Diamond Point Rd., will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Warrensburg Cemetery, with the Rev. Flossie Gage-Bates officiating.
DIAMOND POINT --- Horace C. Finkle, 92, of Diamond Point Rd., passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at Warren Center. He has been reunited with his wife, Shirley, who had just passed away this past August.
Born in Glens Falls on March 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Clifford and Alma (Weaver) Finkle of Bolton Landing.
Following graduation from Bolton Central School in 1943, Horace enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Force, serving in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II. Upon receiving his honorable discharge in 1946, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley A. Moon, on June 5, 1946. The couple recently celebrated their 72 nd anniversary.
Horace joined his father's heating and plumbing business, working by his side, until his father passed away in 1950. He then owned and operated Finkle's Plumbing & Heating until his retirement in 1989. Horace was also Diamond Point Water Superintendent for 48 years.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Shirley, Horace was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Holz; and three brothers, Robert Finkle, Norman Finkle and a stillborn baby brother.
Survivors include three daughters, Jane (Robert) Bradway of Hudson Falls, Sandra (Steven) Sweet of Lake George, and Priscilla (Wayne) Seguin of Massena; 11 grandchildren, Daniel Holz, Heidi Cioffi, Lisa Kirchner, Jennifer Dreyer, Nicole Willis, Kathleen Zeno, Stephanie Cobb, Samantha Caruso, Sheryl Palmateer, Amanda Soulia, and Joshua Seguin; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Bob) Ford of Mass. and Joyce (John) Scafidi of Ohio; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Finkle of Diamond Point; a son-in-law, Bernard Holz of Hudson Falls; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At his request, there will be no calling hours.
A memorial/graveside service will be held at the family's convenience.
