GANSEVOORT -- Howard "Leon" Mattison, 70, passed comfortably on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at home with his loving family by his side.
Born March 10, 1944 in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Herbert and Margaret (Haskins) Mattison.
Leon attended Lake George Central School and later worked for NIBCO, Monahan & Loughlin Inc., as well was a member of Roofers Local 241.
He was an avid outdoorsmen. He loved hunting and fishing. He also loved R-Ving at Alpine Lake with is family. Most recently Howard enjoyed making wooden crafts and canning chairs for his family and friends to enjoy for a lifetime.
Leon married his soul mate, Linda Harrington, at the Harrisena Church, Queensbury. They were married for 50 years.
Along with his parents, Herbert and Margaret Mattison, Leon is predeceased by his brothers, Gary Mattison and John Mattison; his sister, Connie; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Alice Harrington; his brother-in-law, Peter Bapp; his sister-in-law, Gloria Cross; and his dog Frankie.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Leigh (David) Goodrich, Connie Stevenson (Robert), Alison (Dan) Hazewski, Ashley (Richard) Rouse; his only son, Heath (Christine) Mattison; his grandchildren, Elisha Novak, Brittney Jaworski, Kristen Deltoro, Heather Richards, Danny and Devin Hazewski, Megan Ryan and Mason Mattison, Tanner Goodrich, Kyle and Jayda Rouse, Danny Goodrich, and Christine Habshi; great-grandchildren, Kadyn Jaworski, Jayse Mayer, Gage Novak, Greyson Sullivan, Landon Deltoro, Aubrey Richards, Arika Adria and Aidan Habshi; his brother James Mattison; his brother-in-law, Earl Harrington; and his special son in law, Todd Stevenson.
At Howard's request he is now in heaven with his beloved Frankie and his precious quilt which bared the names of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., on Friday, February 27, at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
A memorial service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Lamont Robinson officiating. To quote Rev. Robinson "Life can be Good, Bad and Ugly, Howard lived his life to the fullest."
A celebration of Howard's life will follow after the services, location to be announced at that time.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Yarze and his assistant, Tina, and Dr. Pillemer for always providing compassionate care. Also, a special thanks to his daughter Leigh and her husband, Dave, who opened their home and cared for Dad when he needed it most; and his brother-in-law, Earl Harrington, who has been very dedicated to Howard and was always there to support and help without any hesitation.
