QUEENSBURY--- Ida H. Cowles, 89, a lifelong resident of Harris St., Queensbury, passed away peacefully Monday, April 29, 2013.
Born Sept. 9, 1923, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Leslie C. and Huldah L. (Hammond) Smith of Stony Creek.
Ida was a graduate of Glens Falls High School. For 25 years, she worked at the Glens Falls/Continental Insurance Co.
For 60 years, she was a member of the Community Chapel of West Glens Falls. She also enjoyed being a member of many area senior centers and participating in many bus trips.
Survivors include one loving son, Mel Cowles and his wife, Mary, of Mass.; four grandchildren, Margie Peterson, her husband James, and their children, Erika and Andrew, all of Mass., Michelle Crandall and her husband, Shane, of Ballston Spa, Michael Cowles, his wife Paula, and their children, Kennedy, Anderson, and Payton, all of Clifton Park, and Matthew Cowles and his son, Connor, of Hudson Falls.
Friends may call upon the family Thursday, May 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A funeral service will take place Friday, May 3, at 1 p.m. at Community Chapel of West Glens Falls, 55 Main St., Queensbury, with the Rev. Richard Hoffman, Saratoga Hospital Chaplain, presiding.
Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury.
