Isabelle
Wallace
d. Oct 29, 2023
Warrensburg --- Isabelle Wallace, 83, passed away peacefully at Glens Falls Hospital on October, 29 2023, with family by her side, while listening to her beloved Elvis. Issy was born at home in Pottersville, New York on July 6, 1940 to Ella (Wolfe) and George Wallace.
Issy was a dedicated, hard worker at every job she ever held. She took great pride in her work ethic. She and her sister, Shirley, worked side by side at the Sagamore Hotel Laundry before retiring after 25 years of employment.
Issy had a quick wit and infectious laugh. She loved animals, her family and her friends fiercely. She loved Elvis, Betty Boop and a good meal. She enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee with her friends and neighbors and visiting at the local Stewart's Shop over a cup of coffee, while she and her sister played their scratch off tickets. Issy loved life and never lost that mischievous twinkle in her eye!
Issy was predeceased by her husband, Richard Cates, both parents, Ella and George Wallace, her brother, Donald Wallace and her sister, Zanah Dennison, with whom she is now reunited.
She is survived by her bird babies, Gus and Sharyl, her beloved sisters, Shirley Carpenter and Joyce Barnes, and her very special aunt, Charlotte (Midge) Wisell and her family and many other extended family members. Although Issy did not have children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews, Donald Carpenter, Carla Carpenter, Georgene Carpenter, Cale Carpenter and Paul Cleveland, as if they were her own. Her great nieces and nephews, Jay Holcomb, Danielle Holcomb, Jamie Clark, Brandi Busick, Ethan Hayes, Kimya Hayes, Caleb Cleveland and Abigail Carpenter, brought her great joy. Her great-great nephews, Kian and Jaxon Holcomb were the icing on the cake. In her eyes, they could do no wrong.
Issy leaves behind her best friends and chosen family, Margaret Gates, Maggie Arnold, Patty Prosser and Mary Allen, who have been by her side for many years and who she loved dearly.
Issy will be missed by so many.
Per Issy's request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Pottersville Cemetery. A gathering will take place Sunday, November 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the VFW in Warrensburg where friends and family are welcome to celebrate her life.
Memorial donations may be made to a local animal shelter or rescue organization of choice.
Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
