Obituary

LAKE GEORGE --- James E. Murphy II., best known as Jim, 60, of 5 Leisure Way, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Glens Falls, on May 29, 1959, he was the son of James E. Murphy and Joan (Blasdell) Murphy.

Jim was the eldest of five children, and he paved the way for his siblings. He grew up in the midst of a large extended family. His is uncle Pat, brother John and cousins made it nearly impossible to avoid the occasional mischief. He made lasting memories at summer picnics and holiday gatherings, always wearing his "pocket t-shirts" with a baseball cap, his work boots and knee high socks.

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Joann, May 3 rd 1983, and together they raised four children and enjoyed 36 years together. Jim enjoyed driving truck for many years. In addition to his love for the open road, Jim was also known for being a skilled craftsman, lending his talent to many custom homes he worked on over the years. Jim took a lot of pride in his work as a carpenter, working side by side with his two sons. He loved to have a good time with friends, but more than anything he loved the time he spent with his family. Perhaps his biggest joy was being "Poppi" to his grandchildren. Jim was their "rock".

Jim was predeceased by his grandmother, "ma Murphy" and his uncle Pat.

In addition to his parents those left to travel this road are his devoted wife, Joann; children, James E. Murphy III (best known as Jimmy) his wife, Meggan, with children; Tia, Makayla, Rylie, James, Nevaeh, and Joseph of Glens Falls; Jason Murphy his companion, Cait Smith, with children, Aubrie, Jayden, Cayden and Natalie of Queensbury; Renee Murphy her companion, Shane Cook, with children, Raeonna and Desean of Lake George; Nichole Murphy and companion, Ricci Johnson, with children Lashanti, Trent, Arionna and Shamar of Glens Falls; siblings John (Michelle) Murphy of Chestertown, Janet (Jeff) Joly of Rockingham, N.C., Joanne (William) Zwerger of Syracuse, Jill (Kevin) Kuehner of Syracuse; two great-grandchildren; Cambria and Donovan and one on the way; his two dogs Bear and Lola May; his lifetime best friends, Peanut and Cindy Swan of Granville, who were more like family; and many other family and friends that he adored.

Memorial Service and burial take place in the spring.
