Obituary

It is with saddened hearts that one of Lake Georges most prominent fishermen, James (Jamie) Lewis Ellsworth, passed away at his home with loved ones by his side after a long illness on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Born February 8, 1941, in Glens Falls, New York, he was the son of James V. Ellsworth and Beatrice E. (Lewis).

James graduated from Lake George Central High School in 1959. He then went onto continue his education at Hudson Valley Community College.

He went off to serve his country in 1963. James joined the Navy and was on the USS Bonefish. He left the Navy in 1967 being honorably discharged.

One of James' greatest hobbies and enjoyments was fishing. He was considered to be the best by experienced anglers who pulled copper.

Jamie was a fishing guide at his family-owned sporting goods store, Ellsworth Sport Shop in Lake George, New York.

James is predeceased by his parents, James V. Ellsworth and Beatrice E. (Lewis).

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tamarra of Lake George; son, Daniel and his wife Melissa; grandchildren, Daniel, Sara-Jane and her husband Leonard, Williams, William, and Carmella; sister, Carol Christopher; son, Ian and his wife Abigail and grandchild, River; aunt, Betty Duffy; nephews, Dan, Keith, and JB Monroe; also, several great-grandchildren.

There will be no formal services at this time.
