James
O'Hare
Jun 14, 1962 — May 4, 2024
It was the saddest day in many years.
James O'Hare, 61, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at his home in Queensbury NY. He was born at Glens Falls Hospital on Flag Day 1962 (June 14) and raised in Hudson Falls.
From a young boy, he was always interested in things that roll and go. So, it is no surprise that, as well as graduating from Hudson Falls High School, he graduated from the BOCES Automotive Technician Program. He then embarked upon a lifelong career repairing and maintaining the machinery of all our lives. The cars, trucks and motorcycles that we drive on the roads; the dirt bikes and atv's that we ride through the woods; the snowmobiles on the winter trails and the jet skis and wave runners that fly across the water. He started in the machine shop at Big A Auto Parts then Aviation Imports to Nemer Ford. A change to recreational vehicles at Wilson's Yamaha and then to vintage automobiles at Coveland Motors. Lastly, a return to Nemer Ford where he finished his journey. Along the way he accumulated many friends and colleagues to whom he showed loyalty, generosity, compassion and kindness. He also had (like all of us) a less than pleasant side, but we won't discuss that here and leave it to future memories. His character and great knowledge and skill will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched. In addition to the people in his life, he had a passion for motorcycles. Notably, his Yamaha R6 which he loved to drag the knee on back roads and especially track days at New Hampshire Speedway and Virginia International Raceway and his vintage Italian machinery called Benelli. He also had a passion for his MGB's of which he owned a 1976, a 1963, a 1972 and the last being a 1973.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick (1925-2016) and Alice (1928-2011) O'Hare who are both buried at the National Cemetery in Saratoga Springs. He is survived by his older brother Tim, his sister Kate and younger brother Fred. He is also survived by his favorite (only, lol) sister-in-law Anna who is married to Fred. The next generations are his niece Cynthia Lozo, her partner Tom Sellingham and children Lilliana and Jacob; his nephew Ronald Lozo, his partner Caroline Leveille and children Ronald, Alivia, Ravyn and Violette and his youngest nephew Mark O'Hare. Last on the list, but not least in his heart, Buddy his cat. Unfortunately, Jim never had the chance to raise a family of his own but was blessed with an extended family of too many to name all of them. However, I wish to thank a handful for their help and support in this time of grief. Randy and Candy Winslow, Bob Fulmer, and Aaron Pratt.
Visiting Hours or a Celebration of His Life (if you prefer) will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 31st at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street in Queensbury NY. Jim's wish was to be cremated so the burial will be at a later date as yet undetermined.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be sent to an animal rescue charity of your choice.
Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
