Obituary

CHESTERTOWN – James I. Ruane, 57 of Main Street, passed away peacefully on Nov. 29, 2012 at Woodmere Health Care Facility, after a long and difficult illness.
Born on Feb. 27, 1955 in Bremerhaven, Germany, he was the son of the late Hugh F. Ruane Sr. and Inge Ruane.
Jim was an accomplished carpenter as a young man, traveling throughout the southeastern United States building spec homes. Later, he chose to return to his love of cabinetry, operating Jim's Adirondack Chairs in Chestertown for many years until illness made it unmanageable.
Some of his favorite times during this period was when his friends Woodman and Billy would stop by at the end of the workday and would share a couple of beers over a few games of Yahtzee.
He was predeceased by brothers Max in May of 1998, and Hugh Jr. in Dec. of 2011. He was also predeceased by brother-in-law Robert Mesch in January of 2012.
He is survived by brothers Karl and Robbin Ruane, Joseph Ruane, and a sister Inge Ruane, all of Chestertown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A spring interment is planned and will be private in Pottersville Cemetery.
A celebration of his life will commence at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, with a brief memorial Mass at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Swain of the Church of the Holy Infancy, officiating, held at 10 Mountain Road, Hadley.
Those who wish may make memorial donations to a charity of one's choice.
Condolences may be mailed to Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or e-mailed through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
