Obituary

QUEENSBURY--- Jane Eddy Hutchinson, age 88, died peacefully at the family home in Queensbury, NY on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Jane was the last born child of Janette (Matthews) and Eugene Eddy of South Royalton, VT. She was predeceased by her sister, Madge E. Boardman of Rutland, VT and her brother, Fred M. Eddy of Bethel, VT.
Jane and her husband, Edward T. Hutchinson, met each other 68 years ago by chance, and it was love at first sight. They have since enjoyed each other as man and wife for the past 65 years, including summers at the family camp on Lake George.
Jane was a graduate of Colby Junior College (1944) and Boston University (1946). She subsequently worked as a secretary at Middlebury College and then as a high school business teacher in South Royalton, VT. until she and Edward married in 1948. The couple lived in New Jersey for 2 years, and then returned to Edward's native Glens Falls where they have shared their lives ever since. More than anything, Jane loved her husband, her daughters, her grandchildren, and her close knit circle of friends.
Throughout the years, Jane actively contributed to her community through several charitable organizations. She served in many leadership and support capacities with such organizations as the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls, the Glens Falls Home for Aged Women, The Chapman Historical Museum, Glens Falls Hospital Guild, The Hyde Collection, Wait House, Glens Falls Family Service Association and anonymous giving. Quiet and always effective, Jane derived great satisfaction from her efforts.
All who have known her are thankful for Jane's life. She is survived by her husband, Edward T. Hutchinson; two daughters, Bonnie J. Barton of North River, NY, and Stowe, VT, and Betsy (John) Buecking of Queensbury, NY; grandchildren, Lucy T. Buecking of Albuquerque, NM and Alexander M. Buecking of Big Sky, MT and step-grandson, Andrew D. Buecking of Denver, CO. "Fare thee well, Jane" from all who have loved her.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will honor Jane's life at 11am on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls with a reception to follow in the Pryne Room. The family request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to benefit the "On-the-Go" transportation program through the Glens Falls Home., Inc., PO Box 2088, Glens Falls, NY 12801. Interment will be at Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury, NY at the convenience of the family.
