Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Jane Marie Murphy Taylor, who left this world peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 98, surrounded by family.  Born on January 30, 1927, in Glens Falls, New York, Jane lived a full life marked by her unwavering faith, dedication to family, and her commitment to community.

Jane was the cherished daughter of Joseph Murphy and Grace Whitehead Murphy. She grew up in the close-knit community of Whitehall, New York, where she graduated from Whitehall High School in 1944. After graduation, Jane moved to Rensselaer, New York, where she worked for the Delaware and Hudson Railway (D&H), in Albany, in the revenue division. While in Rensselaer, she lived with Myrtle and Harold Airey who became like family to her.  On September 16, 1950, she married (John) Harold Taylor in Our Lady of Angels Church, in Whitehall, which began a partnership that lasted until Harold's passing in 1989. Together, they created a loving home and raised their three children in Rensselaer and Montrose, New York. After Harold's retirement, they moved to Queensbury, New York, where they continued to build their life together,

A lifelong Catholic, Jane attended church regularly in each of the places she called home and found great joy in her faith. Jane enjoyed volunteering at the Queensbury Senior Center, for the Rosary Altar Society and the Adirondack Theater Festival, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.

Jane's final years were spent at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she received compassionate care. Her family is immensely grateful for the love and attention she received during this time, which allowed her to maintain her dignity and grace.

Jane was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Harold; her sister, Helen Murphy Grady, and her brother, Thomas Joseph Murphy.  She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience and is survived by her sons, Matthew Taylor (Sharon) of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Steven Taylor (Marie) of Poughkeepsie, New York; and her daughter, Lisa Moynihan (Dan) of Millsboro, Delaware. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Murphy of Saratoga Springs, New York; grandchildren, Dolores, Nicole, Christopher, Emily, Ian, LeeAnne, Ryan, Kevin and Sean; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Devin, Mia, Julian, Nicholas, Aaron and Olivia; great-great-grandchildren, Ashton, Averi, Nora and Jayce; and many nieces and nephews, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

The relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 31, 2025, between 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St. Queensbury, NY 12804.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church in Queensbury. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate her life, share cherished memories, and honor the remarkable woman she was.

As we remember Jane, we reflect on a life well lived, full of love, faith, and service. Her spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to a life dedicated to family, community, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her journey.
