Obituary

Queensbury - Janet Van Tassel passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime giving so freely to others. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, adoring grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was found within the walls of her home and in the hearts of her family.

To know her was to know kindness in its purest form. She dedicated her life to caring for those she loved, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting certainty that no one would ever leave her table hungry or her arms unloved. Her happiness was the garden she tended most carefully, and she nurtured each generation with endless patience, wisdom, and grace.

She shared a special love for gardening, finding peace with her hands in the soil and delight in every bloom that appeared beneath her care. Her gardens were reflections of who she was: vibrant, gentle, resilient, and full of life. Whether tending flowers beneath the summer sun or watching her grandchildren play nearby, she found beauty in life's quiet moments.

Above all else, she cherished being a wife. The love she shared with her husband, Martin was steadfast and enduring, built over years of shared memories, perseverance, and devotion. Together, they built a life rooted deeply in love and family.

She leaves behind a legacy not measured in wealth or accomplishments, but in the lives she shaped, the traditions she created, and the unconditional love she gave so generously. Her presence was a lantern in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her, and though she will be deeply missed, the seeds of her love will continue to bloom for generations to come.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Martin and siblings, Doug and Gary. She is survived by her children, Neil (Carolyn), Alan (Colleen), Bruce (Mary Ann), and Joyce (Anthony); grandchildren, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Christina, Dylan, Emily, Alex, Jessica, Rebekah; great-grandchildren; Samantha, Katelyn, Chase, Blake, Carter, Chloe, Aubrey and Aiden; siblings, Joanne, Sharon, Jay; nephews, nieces and friends.
