UPDATED FUNERAL NOTICE:

A graveside service with military honors will take place June 6 at 10 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery.



GANSEVOORT- Jay Bernard Matraw Sr., 64, died Friday February 26th, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Son of the late Robert and Joyce Matraw Sr., he was born in Glens Falls on May 12th, 1951.

As part of the United States Army, Jay served from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1970.

Jay had worked as a Foreman at Cherry Tree Auctions for 26 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, as well as Stewart's coffee and Cashword scratch offs.

Along with his parents, Jay was predeceased by his brother, Eddie Matraw.

Jay is survived by his wife Susan; his sons, Michael (Beth) and Jay Jr. (Becky); his daughter Katie-Anne "Pumpkin"; two grandchildren, Sage "Strawberry Shortcake" and Brittney "Apple Dumpling"; great grandchildren, Hunter "Bear" and Everleigh "Tinkerbelle"; a brother, Robert Matraw (Patricia); sister, Sandra Bradway (Lawrence), along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jay was a father not only to his children, but also to many of their friends.

At his request there will be no calling hours or services.

Burial is private to family.

The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the nurses on T-5 at Glens Falls Hospital who were outstanding.
