Obituary

Queensbury – Jean E. Martzinek, 85, of Needle Park Circle, Queensbury, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 20, 2014 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home, Ft. Edward.

Born Nov. 29, 1928 in Plattsburgh, she was the daughter of Leslie and Ellen (Lobdell) Bragg.

After graduating from Plattsburgh State Teachers College, Jean taught for 32 years at various schools, such as West Leyden, Chestertown, Crown Point, Ticonderoga, and Bolton Landing schools.

She was a member of local senior citizen's groups where she enjoyed spending time with her peers. Jean loved attending Queensbury United Methodist Church and playing the violin.
She was a very giving and caring person, devoted mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Jean was predeceased by her loving husband of 18 wonderful years, William E. Martzinek, prior to his passing in 1973, and her sister, Janet Bragg who passed in 1949.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Gail Henry and her companion, Bo Bigelow, of Greenwich, and Laurel Martzinek of Northville; six grandchildren, Audrey Hermance of Brattleboro, Vt., Amanda Brown and her husband, Greg, of Thurman, Morgan Bills also of Thurman, Nathan Henry of Argyle, James McNeill of Greenwich, and Stephanie McNeill of Glens Falls; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Hayes of Warrensburg; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At her request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

A graveside service will take place Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. at Warrensburg Cemetery, Hudson St., with the Rev. Phil Phaneuf, pastor of Queensbury United Methodist Church, officiating.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Fort Hudson for all their wonderful care and support.
