QUEENSBURY – After a brief battle with cancer, Jean Newell has gone home to Heaven Monday, November 28, 2016.
She is survived by her twin sister, Jane Fuda of Apex, NC. Jean and Jane were born to the Chase family on their farm in Lowville, NY. At the age of 4 they were adopted by Carl and Ruth (Abbott) Magsamen. They were raised in Shrub Oak, Monticello, and Hudson.
After graduating from Hudson HS, Jean went to college in Cobleskill where she earned her degree and met Walter Newell. Jean & Walter wed in 1957, and ended up moving to Lake George where their daughter Lori and son Edwin graduated HS. They lived many happy years in Fort Ann, and eventually settled in Queensbury.
Jean loved to travel with Walter, and they traveled the country in their camper, going to flea markets and car shows. For almost 60 years their love & marriage served as an anchor to friends and family.
Jean is survived by her twin sister Jane Fuda, her husband Walter, their daughter Lori Burnett (Michael Burke) and son Edwin Newell (Mary Alice). She has 5 grandchildren that she loved & was very proud of; Shari Burnett (Josh Crystal), Andrew Burnett, Juli Anna Haller (Brandon), Brian Newell and Michael Newell. She is also survived by her step-sister Carla Heath, and she is pre-deceased by brothers Robert, Richard, and Harold Chase.
A lover of animals to the end, she is also survived by her faithful cats, Doc and Little Boy.
A private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, you may honor her memory by donating to the Warren County SPCA, or to the CR Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital.
