Obituary

BOLTON LANDING-Jerry H. Bromley, 64, of Trout Lake Road, Bolton Landing, passed away suddenly Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after battling with cancer since 2008.
Jerry was born March 24, 1948 in Oneida, NY, the son of the late James S. and Marcia (Ball) Bromley, moving to Bolton Landing with his family when he was just a few years old.
He graduated from Bolton Central School in 1966 then from Morrisville College in 1968. He entered the United States Army January 14, 1969 serving his country in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals, being honorably discharged November of 1970.
On September 18, 1971, he married Dawn LaGoy, at which time he started working for Niagara Mohawk retiring in 2003, and then returned working for National Grid and several independent line contractors, with Northline Utilities being the most recent.
His memberships included the Lake George American Legion Post No. 374, the Warrensburg Haskell Brothers Post No. 4821, and the B. P. O. E. Elks Lodge No. 81 of Glens Falls. He also was proud to have served on the Bolton School Board from 1994 to 2003, several years as board president.
Jerry loved cars and spent time either buying them or deciding what he would buy next. He could detail a car better than the best. Golf was relaxation, and in the past few years, he had enjoyed helping his daughter remodel her fixer-upper home in Buffalo. He also looked forward to spending mornings at the Hometown Diner talking with friends whenever he could.
Above all, he was devoted to his family and so proud of his children that he spent hours talking about them to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all.
Besides his parents, a younger sister Adele Mahoney predeceased him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Dawn (LaGoy) Bromley of Bolton Landing, a son, Jeremy J. Bromley of Long Beach, NY, and a daughter, Lacey E. Bromley of Buffalo; a brother, Lance H. Bromley and his wife, Sandy, of Canfield, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Rick Mahoney of Underhill, Vermont and Terry LaGoy of Bolton Landing; a sister-in-law, Diane Burkhardt, and a mother-in-law, Phyllis LaGoy, both of Bolton Landing; four nieces, two nephews, 2 great nieces, two great nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many many dear friends; also his four legged grand dogs, "Jack and Rusty."
Friends may call upon the family, Thursday, August 16, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Stewart Ave., Bolton Landing.
A funeral service will follow at the church at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Henry Frueh, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or food, the family would like donations be made, in loving memory of Jerry, to the Bolton Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 1054, Bolton Landing, NY 12814, or to a charity of one's choice.
