QUEENSBURY --- Joan E. Nerf, 86, passed away following a brief illness on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital with loved ones by her side.
Born June 28, 1930 in Albany, she was the daughter of Lindsley and Helen (Jarvis) Bombard.
Following her high school graduation, Joan married George F. Nerf on May 13, 1950 at St. Mary's in Nassau, N.Y. She had the privilege of becoming a homemaker, and raising her five children. She also spent several years employed at Sutton's Marketplace.
Joan enjoyed traveling, served as a member of the IRISH Club, and above all, spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, George; a son, Thomas Nerf; and four brothers, Gerald, Russell, Theodore, and Glen Bombard.
Those left to cherish her memory are five children, Kathleen (Joe) Budd; Ann (Mike) Bartlett, Theresa (Paul) Spiak; Rosemary (George) Ferguson, and Kathleen Whalen Nerf; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lindsley (Charlotte) Bombard; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will take place Thursday, June 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch officiating.
Interment will follow at noon at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
