Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Joan Elizabeth Stanco (Mollitor), 83, passed away early in the morning on January 5, 2026, at the Warren Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Queensbury, NY.  Joan is now reunited with her husband Andy, her daily wish for every one of the 3,103 days they were separated.  While we mourn her loss here, we take great comfort as a family knowing they are together again.

Joan was born June 23, 1943, in Glen Cove, NY to Philip and Gertrude Mollitor.  She had graduated from Glen Cove High School and was married to the love of her life, Anthony "Andy" Stanco in Bayville, NY on August 20, 1960. She spent over 20 years enjoying their marriage, family, and friends before welcoming their son.  This time period helped to solidify the close bond between Joan and her husband Andy.

Joan and Andy would move from Long Island in 1980-81 and establish the Adirondack Motel and Little Tony's Diner in Lake George, NY until 2005's "retirement".  Never one to take it slow, Joan also occupied herself by working in the outlets for more than 3 decades, from managing the Champion outlet, to closing the Kitchen Collection; the Adirondack Outlet Mall knew her well.  If you were to catch Joan taking it easy, you would likely have spotted her on the front porch or in her gazebo, with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.  The chair next to her was an open invitation for you to join her.  Her gazebo, windchimes, and flowers made her happy in her later years.

Joan had a special and close relationship with her son and her grandchildren.  Those in her immediate family could do no wrong by her and always received her fiercest support.  Joan was a devoted mother to Anthony "Tony" Stanco.  Known affectionately as "Grandma's babies", her three surviving grandchildren were always her first priority and concern after retirement. She graciously, kindly, and attentively helped raise and support all three, who mourn her loss deeply.

Joan is predeceased by her parents, brothers Richard and Philip Mollitor, and beloved husband Anthony "Andy" Stanco.

Survivors include her son, Anthony "Tony" Stanco and Cherie Dillenbeck of Queensbury, NY, and grandchildren Lara-Ann, Morgan, and Anthony Robert Stanco of Queensbury, NY, and former daughter-in-law Kimberly Stanco of Queensbury, NY.  Joan is also survived by Robert Mollitor of Elizabeth, CO, and Peggy Mollitor of Bethel, VT.

The family would also like to thank Sheila Satterlee for the 42 years of friendship she shared with Joan and for being by her side and helping with Joan's care as her health declined.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Lake George, NY, with the Rev. Joseph Busch officiating.
