Obituary

QUEENSBURY – Joan V. Willard, 85, passed away November 16, 2016 at the Stanton Nursing Home with her beloved daughters by her side.

Joan was born August 2, 1931 in White Plains, New York, the daughter of Emma Van Dorn, and granddaughter of Emma Andres.  She grew up in White Plains and graduated from White Plains High School.

In 1953 she married her love, Robert A. Willard. Together, after his retirement, they moved to Queensbury where they spent 15 wonderful years before his passing in 2004.

Joan was an established bookkeeper and enjoyed working at various locations in White Plains and Queensbury, New York.

Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, shopping, reading, and watching old black and white movies.  But, most of all, she truly enjoyed spending time with her loving children and her dear cats.

Joan joins her beloved husband, parents, and grandparents.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Lynne Lemmo and her husband, Gerry, and Lori Willard and Gary Jones, as well as her many friends.

A burial will take place at Ferncliff Cemetery, in Hartsdale, New York, at a later date.

Donations in Joan's memory can be made to the ASPCA 588 Queensbury Ave, Queensbury, NY 12804 and/or the World Wildlife Fund P.O. Box 97180 Washington, DC 20090-7180.

The family wishes to send thanks to the doctors and nurses at Glens Falls Hospital, as well as to the Stanton Nursing Home, for their care. They also wish to send their sincerest thanks to their mother's wonderful friends and neighbors who were all there for Joan when she needed them.  Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
