Fort Edward --- John Edward Coon II, 43, of Lamplighter Acres, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at his home.

Born in Glens Falls on Feb. 24, 1973, he was the son of John Edward Coon and Colleen Turner.

John graduated from Queensbury High School, Class of 1992.

John was very involved in the National Alliance on Mental Illness group, even serving as a member on the New York State Board of NAMI. He had the privilege of traveling to Washington D.C. to take part in conferences and meet with President Obama to continue to advance mental health awareness.

John was predeceased by his step-father, Victor Miner.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents: mother, Colleen (Larry) Turner, and father, John (Cindy) Coon; three siblings: a sister, Patrina (Jeff) Leland and children, Nathalie, Madilynn, Olivia, and Coleman, a brother, Eric Coon (Sue Strayer) and children, Jeanette, Kaylee, Caleb, Caden, and a sister, Victoria (Dakota) Tracy and children Connor, Lily, Jack, and Owen; also many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours will take place Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Vantage Pointe Church, 543 Ridge Rd., Queensbury.

A celebration of life service will follow at 6 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Dean Brown, Lead Pastor, officiating.

The celebration of John's life will continue at the church, following the service.

A private graveside ceremony will take place at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.
